Aliens without a home.

by:Rachel

Today I’ve been doing research on the possibility of Aria getting her British citizenship (through me). After searching this site and that, I found what I was looking for and carefully read the semi-confusing jargon to discover that, yes, she can. That’s good news.
If you’ve been following recent posts, you’ll know that our plan is to move to the UK after John’s internship ends. It was a toss up between there and Canada as the States is off-limits to me, even for visits (I still have moments of incredibility over this!). I confess I’m just longing to have a country where all three of us are accepted as a family, instead of “Okay, you two can live here, but you can’t; and you can live here, but he needs to apply for this and she needs this, then MAYBE we’ll let you stay.” Sad, sad, sad. I guess I feel a desire to just have a place where we are all accepted, don’t have to worry about how much money we make to satisfy the government, and don’t have to constantly be applying for this visa or that.
Right now, I have to do some calling to figure out the best way for us to apply for Aria’s passport. It has to be done soon as both John and my passports will probably be tied up until then and we also have to apply for a settlement visa for John. Sigh. Please pray for grace for us as we need to be on top of things in this department, and for all the papers to go through and be accepted without hitches; also, for the finances to cover these expenses. I really shouldn’t fear; God has been faithful in every circumstance up ’til now and he’s not the type of God who changes–amen!

You’re in my prayers… I love you and know that somehow, things will work out. Like you said, God is faithful! Keep holding on to him.

Oh Dana! I wish we’d be there! But we’ll be in India now until John’s internship is over in the fall, so we won’t be around. Hope your trip is absolutely wonderful!
    Love, Rachel

    This sucks.

    Reminds me of another:

Jesus replied, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”Matthew 8:20

Hope you find a permanent place to lay your head. You know - Canada is a really great spot…

Thanks for the reminder, Krista. It’s so true. Even seemingly more permanent homes here on earth are so temporary in the grand scheme of things. We’ve thought of Canada… hey, one never knows!

Little update: I read the jargon wrong and Aria can’t get British citizenship through me. Sigh. More visa applications!
