Almost thirty… still a kid!

by:John

Well, School’s in session. Minneapolis is hot. We have a new old car. And my wife’s pregnant belly is now so big that people are telling her she looks like she could burst. All in all, things are fantastic!
I just finished a three month modular class on the books of James & Galatians. The class was called freedom and obligation and it’s point was to help us understand these two aspects of the Christian walk. It really was a lot of home work and studying but, I’ve found that for some reason, I was able to appreciate the work load this time around. Maybe, it’s as my Grandpa was pointing out to me, “the older you get, the more you appreciate things like that.” That just might be true.
I guess I am almost thirty. Wow, it seems old, but it’s a good age to be! And, with a child on the way, I guess I’m really growing up. I don’t feel like it though. I work in the dish-room here in college with my friends who are all mostly early twenties or late teens. For excercise, I play alot of ultimate frisbee with everyone in the court yard and… well, I guess I just don’t feel very old.
I was commenting about this to a friend the other day and they made a really cool statement. They said, “You don’t feel old, because you are an eternal being.” It just instantly rang true to me. I am an eternal being and my heart will never age… only mature. How cool is that?
Anyway, I got to run, Rachel and I are going to a friends birthday party at someone’s house tonight and they have a pool. We’re both stoked about being able to go swimming. Much love to all of you. Please pray for us. Pray also for our internship plans to come together.

I’m closing in on 50! But my heart is like a child…maturing every day as I walk with the Lord!

Daily Prayer and Blessings to you both plus the little one about to enter this world!
